Which TV Mom are YOU??

Take this test!
You are Claire Huxtable from The Cosby Show. You have high expectations for your children, just like you have high expectations for yourself. You've probably got your own life and your own career, but nothing is more fun than spending time with your family. You may be a professional woman, but you enjoy getting silly with the kids sometimes.

You want good kids, but you also want them to be successful, smart individuals who can speak their minds — as long as they do so respectfully. While you enjoy being the kind of mom that your kids can come to with a problem, you are not afraid to set them straight when they're acting badly. When it comes to discipline, you try treat your kids like adults, talking calmly and coolly. And that's ultimately why they're going to grow up with such unwavering respect for you — as both a mother and a successful person.

Holy Spirit and Honeybuns

This story was too cute not to post so here goes

Makenna was supposed to eat breakfast at school - they were scheduled to have Cereal, whole wheat toast, and milk. She decided for some reason to eat a honeybun at home but declared she still wanted to eat breakfast at school too -- I didn't mind because that honeybun had no nutrional value anyway.

When I picked her up in the carpool line she was upset --
Makenna: Are you sure they were supposed to have cereal today?
Me: Yes honey - that is what was on the menu.
Makenna: Well it is a good thing that I ate that honeybun because they DIDN'T have cereal they had muffins with raisins - And you KNOW I don't like those.
Me: Yes I guess it IS good
Makenna: I don't know why I even wanted a honeybun
then Noah chimed in
Noah: Makenna that was the Holy Spirit looking out for you - it told you to eat the honeybun - God knows the future you know -- so He knew they weren't have cereal today -- He knows EVERYTHING

Whistle While you Work

Haven't blogged in a while - been busy working
Started a part-time gig with a nearby Scrapbook Store
LOVE IT THERE - love being so close to all those lovely
products everyday - it is so inspiring -- ALL THE BAZZILL
arranged by color is probably my favorite thing - all those fun
colors just make my heart happy -- it is the simple things right :D

GRACIE HAD PUPPIES

My Gracie Girl had puppies today!!!!

Moved and Getting Settled

We have moved in to our apartment. Unpacked everything in 8 days - wouldn't usually take that long but I had to seperate some stuff for STORAGE and also getting ready to have a garage sale so that stuff all had to be sorted.

So far I am liking the apartment - it is a little cramped but I vacuumed and swept the whole thing today in about 15 minutes - GOTTA LUV THAT -- I think the kids are beginning to feel the squeeze of sharing a room -- Had to break up a few fights over who didn't do their share of CLEANING.

Can't wait for summer -- I think the kids will love being able to just walk to the pool

Started working at the Local Scrapbook Store (LSS) yesterday - actually it really isn't "local" to me as I have to drive a bit to get there but I love the owners and I it is going to be SUPER FUN -- I worked there for a little while when we lived in Owasso a few years ago. They have a great store and I love the VIBE.

Heading North Soon

We will be heading back to Oklahoma this week (Wednesday)
Looking forward to getting the keys to our apartment on Thursday.
The movers will arrive with our stuff on Friday.

Even though we will move into a small apartment, we are looking forward to all being together under the same roof again! And I plan to take full advantage of all the perks of apartment living -- POOL and GYM and best of all NO YARD WORK or MAINTENANCE

3/25

Doctor said they still don't have my scan results - he said he would contact me tomorrow

dooo dooo do do dooo dooo doo
do
do do
do
do do do
(that was supposed to be the jeopardy music)

So what should a girl do while she is waiting for UBER important news????
who knows but I am thinking I should surf the net
watch some shows I DVR'ed
and then ... maybe ... I will balance my checkbook

ok who am i kidding -- it will be too late to tackle that last one
i will put it off till tomorrow :D

3/24 crazy drama ... but what did you expect

We made it here safely a week and a half ago and we are STILL HERE

we have had several hiccups in our planned mini "VACATION".

Right before we left a gentleman wanted to rent our house - we didn't think much of it at first but he was very persistant so we met with him here in houston and decided we would rent it to him -- at the last minute (paperwork in hand) he tells us there is another house he is interested in that is closer to his exwife (he is a police officer here and he and his wife have recently divorced but share custody of their 2 children)anyway he didn't think the owners of the other house were willing to take it off the market for the year so he didn't think it would work out - he said he would let us know in two days

He ended up getting the other house and at this point we hadn't packed a single thing - because if he was going to rent it we would have the relocation company send out the movers (which is paid for by dh's company) with the $$ from the rent we would have just paid for an extra storage building to hold the stuff that won't fit into our apartment

so now we were trying to pack in a flash only to find out that all the things we needed like CLOTHES BEDS COUCH LOVESEAT TABLE wouldn't fit in the trailor we had hauled all the way to houston (the one we had to borrow my moms gas guzzling yukon to pull to houston AGAINST the wind ) so once everything was loaded we had no room for our table / any office stuff / or coffee table / or my scrap stuff

-- THAT WAS THE KICKER --

I thought i was going to break down at the point we ended up deciding to unload all the stuff in the living room -- and call the relocation company anyway -- SO we packed all that stuff for NOTHING

all this and i didn't even mention the medical drama

first it started off with the dr. office they didn't order enough thyrogen serum -- so i was only give 2 injections instead of 3 ??? not sure if it make a difference but it stinks when people drop the ball -- then on the day i was supposed to have the scan I get to the hospital (at crack 30 in the morning - and yall know i am NOT a morning person) and they take me back to nuclear medicine only to find out that they had me down for the WRONG scan -- i needed a whole body scan and they had me down for a whole body BONE scan -- so then I am told I will have to come back later that afternoon to take the radioactive iodine and I will have to stay in houston another day and a half to have the scan i planned the "vacation" around --- UGGGGH -- so it wasn't huge but dh had to call his district manager and take extra time off when their store is having a HORRIBLE month (which made me feel so guilty)

anyway I go back to the hospital to get the radioactive iodine and it hasn't arrived -- apparently it was stuck in new england due to bad weather and the flight was delayed -- OMGosh -- i am really freaking at this point because we CANNOT delay this any longer (keep in mind i was still trying to pack the house at this time) all I kept thinking was DH is going to loose his job - not to mention the stress i was under just about taking the test - I think i might have slept a total of 2 hours the night before at 4:30 I finally get to take the radioactive iodine (they closed at 5)

now LUCKY ME - i can't kiss dh or anyone for that matter -- or share a bed with him -- and i was back to flushing the toilet twice (very similar restrictions as my radiation back in oct)But I was rejoicing because this meant I was that much closer to getting the FREAKIN scan over with -- which wouldn't take place for another 48 hours

so skip two days which envolved packing and then dissappointment when it didn't fit

and that brings you to SCAN DAY (Friday) Heath and I had decided to leave Houston once the scan was over that after noon - even though we wouldn't get back to Tulsa until midnight. I was supposed to start the scan as soon as i arrived but there was an emergency in ER that required the machine so i was set back about an hour - they finally take me back and start the scan which takes about 50 minutes or so after it is all finished i am asked to wait - and then a gentleman comes to talk to me about possibly having to have more pics taken and would it be possible for me to stay in town until MONDAY because they wouldn't be able to do them until then ?? now I am freakin -- thinking OMG do i have cancer again??? so anyway he says that he wants me to hang around town and he will put a rush on it and see if 2 of the dr's can look over it and he will call me within two hours -- What was i gonna say..... ummm..... OK ???

so now we are waiting and we get a call about an hour and a half later saying I CAN LEAVE ???? still a little perplexed but I will take it

but now hubby and i realize we will not arrive back in Tulsa until after 2 in the morning so we will leave SATURDAY morning -- anyway we get to talking and realize it didn't make much sense for me to go back to Tulsa when i was going to have to come back and meet the movers in a week or two - and with gas prices being as high as they are it was more cost effective to just stay

so here i am in houston -- at my in laws house (my house is still packed up) with no car and with no Dh to cuddle with at night

BUT The GOOD NEWS is I will talk to my doctor tomorrow about the results of my scan so KEEP Your Fingers crossed for me ...... I will let you guys know as soon as I do but I am expecting SUPER FAB RESULTS

March 12

We are heading to Houston for the week :D
We will be going to Houston tomorrow to visit and to pack up the essentials from our house (which still hasn't sold) We are going to be moving into an apartment soon.

I will also be doing my first full body scan since becoming cancer free in November.

We originally planned this as a VACATION trip then I found out I needed the scan - which was totally fine-- i thought it would be an in and out kind of thing -- but it turns out I will be going to the dr. 4 out of the 7 days we will be in Houston - BUMMER -- I have to get 3 days worth of injections and lab work and then the final day will be the scan - Please pray that I will get a clean bill of health and that the doctor will be able to adjust my meds so that my thyroid levels will be in the appropriate range.

We will also be packing up the things we need from our house so that we will be able to move into an apartment in April --(can you say 2 house payments OUCH) They are saying that the apartment won't be ready until April 11 but I have my fingers crossed that it may be available sooner. Please pray that God will go before us and make this as smooth of a transition as possible

we will be enrolling the kids in school after we return from Houston. They are both excited and nervous.

I will be going back to work part time to help with the apartment costs -- but it is at a LSS - the one I worked at when we lived in OK before -- SUPER EXCITED about that

LOTS of changes coming up

Thanks for your prayers

March 5

Another year has past and now my first born son would have been 12 years old. This was the first year I was able to stay focused on all the positive he brought into my life. It has taken 12 long years to get to that point. It seems sad to me, how this time of year, in the past, has brought me to such a sorrowful place - a place of deep saddness. I can't help but think of how much time I have wasted feeling sorry for myself. This year was different. I filled my day with thoughts of thankfulness. I am so thankful that I was blessed with my little boy. He changed the course of my life - put me on a new path. And though my heart still climbs into my throat when I think of how much I miss him, I can't help but smile when I remember his sweet little face.

February 1st ALREADY

I feel like days .... weeks even .... have just flown by
where is the time going ????

Our house is on the market (it was off for about 2weeks - while we searched for a new realtor) We haven't had any showings other than 4 realtors who have seen it -- but I have a great feeling about this weekend and I am excited to see God move in a MIGHTY way :D :D :D

I started a new bible study today - it was a Christmas gift from a friend - It is called
Keepers of the Home
and is based around the book
A Woman After God's Own Heart
so far it is fabulous -- There are already a ton of marks in my book and it is only day one so that is very exciting for me :D :D I am a big note taker - can't help it -

The kids are doing well -- they actually did extra school work this week so that they could have Friday OFF ;) -- I was happy for them - and happy for me a little too -- I hope to get some scrapping done tonight -- FINGERS CROSSED

p.s. Thank to all you have recently visited or revisited my blog -- I mainly write this stuff for me but it is always fun to know that others get something from it every now and again ;)

here is a small portion of my reading today that really moved me ---- it is a prayer of a China Inland Misson worker - Betty Scott Stam -- she and her husband were led through the streets of China to their execution by decapitation, while their baby lay behind in its crib. This was her daily prayer:

Lord, I give up all my own plans and purposes, all my own desires and hopes, and accept Thy will for my life. I give myself, my time, my all, utterly to Thee to be Thine forever. Fill me and seal me with Thy Holy Spirit. Use me as Thou wilt, send me where Thou wilt, work out Thy whole will in my life at any cost, now and forever.

A Whole New Dimension

We have been in Oklahoma for almost one month now.
GOD BLESS OUR FRIENDS who are sheltering us during
this transition period. Overall we are doing very well.

Things are different that is for sure - but not BAD DIFFERENT
just DIFFERENT -- not sure if that makes sense??? but anytime
you put two families together things are gonna get shaken up. Not
to mention the fact that we have two kids and they have 5. That
my friends adds a whole new dimension

We are homeschooling - which generally takes about 2 hours per day
sometimes less - I enjoy it most days but I also miss the kids being
out of the house for a bit too (hope that doesn't make me a bad
mom) But honestly - I loved using that time for Bible Study -
Cleaning - Laundry - Groc. Shopping - SCRAPBOOKING -- or just
hanging with my buds (Molly & Nicole) I miss having time to do
those things -- I am sure I could still have this time it is that I just
have to be more purposeful in my time management I guess. And
as for the kids - lets just say they both are excited to start school
and meet some new friends. They go back and forth on whether
they "like" being homeschooled - but then again I can't tell you the
number of times I have heard Makenna say "Mom, do I have to go
to school today?"

Driving here in Tulsa is very different than driving in Houston. No
one seems to be in a hurry to get anywhere - not sure if that is
good or bad? Guess it just depends on my mood that day - Oh
and I am not sure what the deal is but it seems many people here
don't realize that YEILD doesn't mean come to a complete STOP
and look around to see if you can proceed!!!

Can you tell I have a teensy weensy bit of Road Rage ;)

We are attending church here and it is AWESOME -- the worship
team is the best I have ever seen (or heard)

I am really trying to soak up this time we have with our friends.
It isn't always easy - the kids fight - there has even been some
blood shed :0 *gasp*

but I think the best part is that we are all LEARNING

I am seeing how patient Ashlee is with her kids - It is so refreshing
I can't help but want to be more like that - she lets them PAINT
now I don't mean watercolor - I mean actually help paint the walls
and when her 6 year old got some wall color on the already painted
trim she didn't even flinch -- I on the other hand probably wouldn't
allowed my kids to help paint.

Do I miss my fam in Houston? YES
Do I miss my friends? YES
Do I miss my house - my stuff - and my normal "routine"? YES

But all in all it is a great experience - and I know that my family
will always look back on this time and smile.

ICE ICE BABY

ok - so the title isn't the greatest - but today it's all i got ;)

So we are hoping to move on Monday but there is still no
power in parts of Tulsa, OK (if you don't know what i am talking about
watch the news - ICE STORM)- particularly the area we are moving to.
I am still packing regardless - lots of laundry to finish up - I just
have this feeling that at the last minute the power will be on and
everything will go according to plan.

Although if it doesn't we will just hang out in Houston a bit longer :)
WOW -- I sound as if I am a "fly by the seat of your pants" gal - DO
NOT BE DISMAYED - I am not - but I am getting better at trying to be

It's the Most WONDERFUL TIME of the YEAR

I LOVE CHRISTMAS
IT IS MY FAVORITE HOLIDAY
I love the music
i usually start listening to Christmas music in early November
I love to buy gifts
not so much the spending money part but the search for something
that the receiver truly wants/needs or would enjoy
I love the decorations
we are moving in 8 days so we didn't put up decorations this year
but I am already looking forward to decorating our new tree for next year
my mom bought me some new decorations when she was here after my radiation treatment - can't wait to put them up
Most importantly I love seeing my kids GET IT - really GET what we are celebrating

THE BIRTH OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOR , JESUS CHRIST
and that is what makes this the most wonderful time of the year

photo of Makenna taken at her grandparents house last weekend

11th Hour

Ever notice how it is always in the 11th hour

always

God does something so wonderful only HE could have made it happen. I seem to find myself in some sticky situations - some big mistakes - and right when i start to get a little panic-y --- a little UNCOMFORTABLE -- HE rushes in to my rescue

I have to admit it is pretty awesome having JESUS as my SUPERHERO -

now don't misunderstand me - I don't think HE protects me from everything - after all it is the struggles that build our character and our faith -- but I can't help but smile when HE busts in and totally saves the day

Back amongst the living ;)

So we have been sick for a little over a week now and it has gone through EVERYONE in the house - including the momma :0 GASP -
it was nasty
and PRAISE the LORD
it is over
and that is all I have to say about that

Pokemon: It's not just cool....

Noah and I just had this conversation

Noah: Mom, I don't understand why he never wants to play or talk about pokemon anymore. He says (he was talking about a friend of his) that it is getting OLD.

MOM: Well maybe he just isn't into Pokemon anymore. Maybe he doesn't think it is cool.

Noah: Mom POKEMON is not just cool (with the duh attitude) IT'S SUPER COOL

so maybe the typed version of the conversation wasn't as cute but he said it with such CONVICTION I just don't want to forget it ;)

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving may have already come and gone but tonight I am up late thinking of all the things I am thankful for

  • My HUSBAND (who I am still MISSING)
  • My children - all 3 of them - they have each taught me so much and changed my life in a profound way
  • How AWESOME God is and how He always provides for us
  • FAMILY
  • FRIENDS
  • that Noah is feeling better - He was sick all day (stomach yuckies) but he is awake watching Kim possible at 12:15am so he must be feeling better ..... right?
  • singing Christmas Carol's in the car on Thanksgiving Day with the kids
  • that I am cancer free and getting stronger everyday

Who says Thanksgiving is only ONE DAY -- I would love to hang onto this grateful attitude all year long -- I am sure it might take a little work but it can be done

Change

Sometimes I am in awe of the creatures that God has created. The chameleon for example - I find it amazing - how easily it adapts to change (took this picture at the zoo on Nov.6th 2007)

Too bad most humans aren't as easily adaptable. I am not sure about you but I am not.

The whole thing with Heath working in Oklahoma - I can't seem to find my footing - I can't seem to get used to it - you would think after a while I would find a new "normal" a new routine - but I can't - I am completely MISERABLE -- I miss him tremendously and it is only getting worse.

So I am praying that God sends a buyer to my Open House this weekend. Then the kids and I can move without having to pay 2 house payments (YuCk!) and our little family can all be together again.

lastest happenings and random thoughts

This week has just flown by -- like a BLUR --
Heath was here and then gone again way too fast -
and though I am relieved to be Cancer Free it is kind of odd to actually let go of it. Almost like I can't believe it is real. I don't have to fight it anymore and I am FREE from it.

Aside from the cancer stuff nothing seems to be going as "planned" and some moments it can seem to sneak up and strangle me but for the most part I am trying to focus on the fact that just because things aren't happening in "MY TIMING" doesn't mean they aren't going according to HIS -- and honestly THAT IS REALLY THE POINT -- ISN'T IT

Before Heath left Makenna came down with a stomach virus and she missed school everyday except for Monday this week. At one point Makenna was holding her head over the toilet - the dog was throwing up and Noah was saying "mom my stomach is really hurting" For a second I thought "can it get worse" then I took the dog outside and found a lovely dead bird (gross) on my deck. This is one of the things that I took for granted when my husband was home - This would have definitely fallen under the HUSBAND category -- I am telling you this story not to COMPLAIN but to just say that sometimes things FEEL like they are falling apart -- we have all been there - but the GREAT part of the story is that Makenna, Noah, and even the dog are all feeling better and miraculously the dead bird disappeared. I left it on the deck for 2 days because I couldn't stand the thought of having to dispose of it. And on the 3rd day it was GONE. Now I know many of you are thinking - YEAH So WHAT -- but I couldn't help but think that this was just one of the ways that He is looking out for me -- how HE is involved in even the tinyest aspects of my life -- and you know what if He will take care of that little stuff - I know He will not leave me out to dry on the BIG stuff (like selling the house). So I guess what I am saying is that even though we didn't sell the house in record time - I know we will sell it when it is the perfect time

"Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need." Hebrews 4:16

NEW BABY

CONGRATS Ronnie and Ashlee B. on the birth of little Lucas.

as I pray for him and the family God has blessed him with the scripture that keeps playing through my head is this

" For this boy I prayed, and the Lord has given me my petition which I asked of Him"
1 Samuel 1:27

I am so excited for them and I pray that God continues to pour out His blessings upon their family.

can't wait to get to OK to snuggle this new little one

Noah's Favorite Scripture

A few weeks ago Noah proclaimed that Psalm 23 was his "FAVORITE CHAPTER IN THE BIBLE"

"The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.

Even Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me. Thou dost prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; Thou hast anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows/ Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."

CANCER FREE

GUESS WHAT !!!!!

IT IS OFFICIAL

I AM CANCER FREE

wanted to share that I had my scan on Monday evening and found out on Tuesday that I will not be needing anymore rounds of radiation -- PRAISE GOD!! -- they didn't see anymore areas of concern so now we will start the process of just getting my body regulated on thyroid replacement medication.

Thank you all so much for your prayers and support- it means so much more than you could ever know -

God is SO AWESOME and I know that HE not only HEARS but HE ANSWERS PRAYERS as well. Please pray for the regulation of the medication, the sale of our home, and most importantly the reuniting of our family!

THANK YOU FOR CELEBRATING THIS WITH ME!!!!

MANY BLESSINGS

Open House

Saturday
:( today's open house was a BUST -- I was really hoping I would come home to at least ONE contract. Maybe I am just too optomistic. I am trying to be patient but I am missing my husband more and more with every passing second.

We are going to do another OPEN HOUSE next SUNDAY NOVEMBER 11 from 1-4 - so if you know anyone in the Houston area who is looking to buy a house please let me know.

Friday
had one showing - the garage couldn't accomodate their vehicle :(
other than that I just cleaned house for the OPEN HOUSE and took Makenna to dance.

Thursday
My mom had to go back to Oklahoma today :( Missing her already. My brother locked the keys in his car and my mom had his spare set in her purse - it wasn't that big of a deal because she was going to leave on Friday or Saturday anyway but being the "planner" that I am it sort of threw me off a bit - We were able to squeeze in a few hours of shopping before she left -- I love to window shop with my mom - :) :) :) -- It will be nice to live closer to her and spend more time with her.
